Pricing
Our family portrait sessions start at $450. The session fee is based on photographing one immediate family which is defined as a mother, father, and their children, up to 7 people. Additional family or extended family members are $35 for each additional individual. Location session fees are higher and are photographed within a 15 mile radius of Newburyport.
At Sweethaven Studio, our goal is to deliver the highest quality photographic portraits available. Your portrait session may be photographed in the comfort of your home, or at your favorite location. There are also many beautiful spots in and around the Newburyport area that we can recommend.

Home Session

Base fee – $550 + tax
Location Session
A Location Session is photographed within a 15 mile radius of Newburyport and includes up to 7 people depending on your specific situation. Prints are additional. Please use the Contact form to request a printable PDF of our detailed information.

High School Senior Portraits

Event Session
Examples of an Event Session are birthday parties for a child or adult, or an anniversary celebration etc., which are typically 2 hours in length. Pricing is based on your individual needs, and requires a custom quote in addition to a Base Fee of $575 + tax. Additional hours are billed at $150 per hour.

FAQ's
When is the sitting fee due?
The session fee is due in advance at the time of scheduling / booking of your session, and is nonrefundable.
We accept cash, checks and credit cards.
What should we expect?
We take a comfortable, easy approach to photo sessions. Our goal is to capture carefully crafted images side by side with happy surprises as we move through our shoot. You'll find it a relaxing, enjoyable, low-stress experience.
Where will our photo shoot take place?
Photo shoots can take place in the comfort of your home, in and around Newburyport or at a location of your choice. With some children, we find that they feel more comfortable in and around their own home or somewhere outdoors.
How should we dress?
It's a good idea to have more than one change of clothes (solid colors & earth tones always work best). Include some fun stuff like big boots, wild socks, ballet costumes or crazy hats. The favorite outfit that your child loves may be a sweet reminder of this precious time.
Who should attend the photo shoot?
It's a good plan to keep the number of adults to a minimum. Too many "big" people can distract us from the connection we need to make
How long will the session take?
HOME & LOCATION SESSIONS take 2 to 3 hours. In either case, it's a matter of capturing that special moment.
Do you work in B&W?
Yes. We photograph with high end professional digital cameras. These cameras capture a wide range of information that includes both color and B&W.
Do you retouch photographs?
Yes. Retouching is included on all prints you order at no additional charge, although some restrictions apply.
Do you provide hair styling and makeup?
We HIGHLY recommend you get your hair and makeup done by a professional stylist just before your session so you can look your very best. Makeup is an important component on how your finished photos will look. If you don’t know a stylist, we work with an independent hair and makeup stylist from Newburyport who will come to your shoot and give you her undivided attention for your session. This is a big plus for you as your hair and makeup will remain fresh for your entire session. The cost for this optional service varies depending on the stylist available and is paid directly to the stylist. We also suggest that you not try anything new with your hair before your session. Stay with the color and style you are comfortable with.
What happens in the case of inclement weather?
Your portrait session will be rescheduled for the next available date agreed upon, unless it's an inside session.
Proof presentation
We have recently built a new website (You are looking at it now!) which allows us to present your photos in an on-line gallery. This allows you to view your photos on your computer, tablet or phone at your leisure, 24/7. You can also share the link with friends and family to help you choose the very best ones. Posting the gallery takes between 1-2 weeks and will remain active for your viewing until you have selected your final photos, or for as long as you wish your photos remain available for viewing. Once you have chosen your finals, you will have access to your on-line gallery and our store where you will be able to purchase prints individually in a variety of sizes, framed, matted and framed, acrylic glass prints, flat and note cards, along with a variety of other print products.
Do I have to order prints through you?
Yes. In order for us to maintain a high level of quality, it is important that we control the reproduction of our work. After your session is complete, you will have access to your on-line web gallery and our store where you will be able to purchase prints individually in a variety of sizes, framed, matted and framed, acrylic glass prints, flat and note cards, along with a variety of other print products.
When do we pay for prints?
Because of the custom nature of print orders, full payment is due at the time you place your on-line order.
Do you offer flat cards, greeting cards, coffee table books or other press printed items?
Yes. After your session is complete and you have chosen your final images, you will have access to our on-line store where you can order a variety of printed items.
May we change our print order once it has been placed?
In some cases yes, as long as you request changes before you place your on-line order.
What if I would like to purchase volume copies of a single image at a single size?
Once you have access to our on-line store, you will be able to order as many prints of a single image easily and quickly.
Do you archive (save) all the images you shoot?
No. Only the images presented to you in your Client Gallery and the images ordered will be saved to our archives. However, we offer no guarantee that they will be available at a future date, even though we have multiple backup copies and do everything possible to insure the security of our backups.
Do you sell your files?
Yes. Once you have chosen your final images, you will be able to access our on-line store to purchase hi-res image files for print or additional low-res web images for use on line / social media.
